About LEWA PRODUCTIONS

Born from a friendship and a shared passion for fearless storytelling, LEWA Productions was founded in Zagreb by director Tatjana Božić (Amsterdam) and producer Magdalena Petrović (Paris).
We champion bold, authentic European cinema, with a deep love for arthouse films, personal documentaries, and stories that put women front and center—both on and off-screen.
Our work is a fusion of the cultures we live and breathe, a cinematic playground where borders blur and European stories come to life.
We bring together exceptional talents, crews, and locations across the continent, crafting films that resonate across cultures.
Our stories are personal yet universal, told with honesty, depth, and often humour.
Our projects have earned the support of HAVC, the City of Amsterdam, the Netherlands Film Fund, the Hamburg Film Fund, HBO Max, and more. They have also been showcased and pitched at IDFA Forum, Baltic Sea Docs, Ex Oriente, East Doc Platform, DOK Leipzig, Doc Lisboa, Doc Munich, and Agora Thessaloniki—a testament to our commitment to stories that matter.
At LEWA, we create films that linger—stories that stay with you, spark conversations, and connect us in ways only cinema can.
Tatjana Božić, co-founder, Croatia/Netherland
Director & Creative Producer

Croatian-born and Amsterdam-based, Tatjana Božić has been making films wherever life takes her—Russia, England, Croatia, the Netherlands. With an MA in Television Journalism and a postdoc in Documentary Filmmaking from Moscow’s prestigious Higher School for Screenwriters and Directors, she has spent her career chasing the raw, the real, and the beautifully messy truths of life.
She is the co-founder of Fade In, a Croatian production studio, and Spacedust Productions, a small and vibrant Dutch production company.
Her feature Happily Ever After (2014) didn’t just make waves—it hit cinemas across the Netherlands, Croatia, Slovenia, and France and racked up nominations and awards, including a Tiger Award nomination at IFF Rotterdam, a Gouden Kalf for Best Editing, and a Dutch Directors Guild Best Director nomination, among others, proving that personal storytelling can be both deeply intimate and universally powerful.

A seasoned participant in Documentary Campus Masterschool, EAVE Producers Workshop, and ExOriente, Tatjana moves effortlessly between directing, producing, and coaching. Trained in Method Acting, Life Coaching, Eating Disorder Coaching, Drama Therapy, Family Constellations, and EMDR, she brings a deep understanding of human nature into everything she creates.
Magdalena Petrović, co-founder, Croatia/France
Producer & Managing Director
Magdalena Petrović thrives at the crossroads of storytelling and production, seamlessly navigating the film industry from Croatia to France. Armed with a degree in Drama, Art, and Music Studies from the University of Bologna, she has worn many hats—producer, line producer, fixer, journalist, photographer, festival coordinator—bringing stories to life across documentaries, fiction, TV, commercials, and reportages since 2006.
Based in France since 2010, she’s a force behind the scenes, blending creative vision with sharp production instincts.
A member of the Croatian Producers Association (HRUP) and an alumna of Berlinale Talent Campus, Cannes Producers Workshop, and EAVE, she’s always at the heart of European cinema’s pulse. Her passion extends beyond production—through Vigo pour Tous, she helps curate daring, thought-provoking films for a Parisian Art & Essai cinema, keeping indie cinema alive and kicking.
